Flex Power Modules have launched a series of non-isolated DC/DC converters, BMR351, which the company claims to be a DC/DC converter with an input range of 40-60 V suitable for 48/54 V applications commonly found in data centers, high-performance computing, and cloud computing environments. The module ensures a fully regulated output of 12.2 V nominal, guaranteeing reliable performance while operating without isolation. The converter claims to feature remarkably high levels of efficiency, reaching a peak of over 98%. Under typical conditions with a 54 V and half load, it maintains an efficiency of 97.8%. According to the press release issued by the company, the module is specifically characterized by a component hotspot temperature of 125 °C. The converter’s comprehensive thermal management system ensures secure peak power operation, incorporating fast and timed over-temperature protection. Additionally, it includes an ALERT signal that indicates an imminent thermal shutdown.

The press release highlights that the converter is equipped with input under-voltage lockout and output short-circuit, over-voltage, and over-current protection mechanisms. The converters claim to have a Power Management Bus (PMBus) interface that allows easy configuration, monitoring, and control. Multiple converters can be paralleled to achieve higher power outputs using the droop load-sharing technique. According to the company’s claim, the output voltage of the converters can be adjusted within the range of 8 V to 13.2 V. Additionally, the converters feature hardware pins for remote sensing, power good indication, and remote control.

Olle Hellgren, Director Product Management and Marketing of Flex Power Modules, comments: “Our BMR351 is ideal when maximum power density is needed along with high peak power rating, such as in server and cloud applications”.
